Hmm.. Lets Reminisce with some Anecdotes!

When I was in elementary school my dad was the one to help me with my homework. He'd always be there whenever I didn't understand a concept or was confused. He was very persistent, he'd sit there with me and go over things again and again until I understood. He'd also teach me new things, like the multiplication table, long division, fractions. I guess I have him to thank for my love of math. I remember when I was learning the multiplication tables he would sit there with me for hours and it would always go something like this, "Whats three nine eight?" and I would sit there and count, 9, 18, 27... At times it would take me quite a while to come up with an answer but he stuck with me until I did.
He was also very persistent when he was teaching me how to ride my bike. I would fall down a lot or run into a pole or hit the fence but he was always there to help me up and tell me to continue to ride no matter how much it hurt. One day I was riding and I fell off and scratched up my ear pretty bad, I didn't know if I wanted to get back on my bike but my dad told me to persevere and keep trying, so I did; and I learned how to ride a bike!

When my dad was younger and still lived in Vietnam he was a very hard worker. He would ride his bike or walk miles to school and walk back and when he got back he would always have chores to do. He had to live through poverty and didn't grow up with much but that didn't stop him from getting an education. Eventually he finished high school and graduated. Even though he did manage to get an education life in Vietnam wasn't all it could be so he left for America, by boat of course. He came to America with nothing but the clothes on his back yet he continued to persevere and put himself through two years of college and graduated. But even with a college degree he didn't have much so he decided to move from Virginia to California; he drove the whole way. Here in California he bought a townhouse for him, my mom, my sister, and three of my uncles to live in. They lived there for years while my dad saved up money and worked hard at his job. He eventually became a technician and after I was born he had saved up enough money to buy the house that we currently live in. He has always been a very hard worker and always persevered through hard times.

A while back, 5 years to be exact, I was in need of a new computer. My dad did not want to buy a whole new computer so he decided to put one together for me using old computer parts we had lying around the house. (since he loves to take things apart and "fix" them in his spare time) Anyways he had gotten everything together, all necessary components were there, but putting it together was another story. He had so much trouble connecting wires, getting certain boards to go where they belonged. He sat there for hours trying to get everything in place. At last almost everything was in its place and where it belonged but he still needed to put in the mother board; this was probably the hardest part since he had little experience with this. It took him a fairly long time to finally connect it properly and finished my computer. Putting together the computer was probably a stressful thing for him since he doesn't like it when he can't do something properly, but he never gave up.

  1. I liked your examples and they really told me something about your dad. He seems like a persistent and patient person. He doesn't seem pushy but it seems like he tries his best to make you try your best in all aspects of life.

  2. hello nina(: you are cool! Im tired. I like chocolate covered grasshoppers. I never tried honey roasted spiders yet. Maybe my adventure for the week is to try and experiment with them. Have you tried chocolate covered beetles? Their pinchers get stuck in my throat. Scorpions are the most unpleasant. I highly recommend staying away from the chili-peppered creature, unless you want bloating and gas for three days. Out of all these creatures of the earth, the most enjoyable I must say is the white chocolate covered maggots. They slide easily down your throat with a enjoyable aftertaste of cocoa. Ill write you a real blogg over the weekend(;

  3. It seems as if your dad has overcome a lot of adversity in his life, but never let that bring him down. Also, it looks like everything he's gone through didn't stop him from reaching his goals and caring for his daughter and family because of his strong dedication.

  4. Your dad seems like the type that never gives up. He is mind set and determined which are two great qualities in a person. I love how he wasnt self centered, rather he put his family fist and his actions revolved around the benefit of others, rather than himself. He is such a great role model to have in a young girls life, especially growing up.

  5. All of these stories go together well, illustrating your dad as a persistent and hardworking individual. They could easily be improved with more detail, and a focus on specific events, rather than broad periods of time: the time you fell of your bike, for example. Include dialogue if you can.
